Major Responsibilities:
Monthly Financial Closing – Helps plan and coordinate monthly financial closing. Analyze monthly financial statements for completeness and work closely with financial management to finalize results. Assist in the coordination with other segments as they interface with SAP and intercompany transactions. Work with financial analysts to understand fluctuations in the financial results. 25%
Specialized Accounting Tasks - participate in the preparation and review of complex and specialized accounting analyses and reconciliations. These tasks will involve the research and review of accounting technical literature, formulation of recommendations based on the research, development of spreadsheets to analyze and track results of these tasks, and participating in discussions with various levels of management, internal audit and external audit. 25%
Audits - Provide support for both internal and external audit requirements. Ensure integrity of the schedules and linkage to the financial statements. Ensure timely submission and monitor deadlines to ensure a smooth flow in any audit process, whether it is internal or external. Gain sufficient insight of the business and relevant schedules to provide sufficient understanding to the audit inquiries. 15%
Supervision – Provide supervision to direct reports. Responsible for training new members to the Accounting team to better understand the financial systems and how their roles and responsibilities relate to the department as a whole. 15%
Systems Development - Work with management to design, update, and change accounting systems and procedures and develop supporting business processes and controls. Prepare training documentation for system changes and develop and deliver the training for new accounting personnel. 10%
Other - Assist in accounting policy and procedure development. Recommend solutions for accounting issues (GAAP) or recommend solutions for technical SAP related issues. Support team involvement as required to assess the impact on the financial results and our financial systems and processes.10%
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in accounting required.
CPA is required.
Minimum ten years of accounting experience or five to seven years with advanced degree (CPA or Masters)
Previous supervisory experience within accounting environment required.
Strong accounting skills and prior experience in preparation of consolidated financial statements
SEC experience is not required but is a plus.
Supervision of direct reports in work group. Mentoring role for staff in a supporting role.
